Lutheran Homes of Michigan's Leadership Institute kicked off Jan. 20, with a special three-day retreat at Crystal Mountain.

The LHM Leadership Institute is a 10-month program of individual homework, personal assessment, regular group sessions, readings, studies and mentoring. It is designed to identify future leaders from within LHM and equip them with tools to help serve the ministry, seniors and caregivers into the future.

"It's exciting and a little intimidating for participants at first, but the outcomes from our inaugural Leadership Institute last year proved it is worth the effort," said David M. Gehm, president and CEO of Lutheran Homes of Michigan.

"For the participants, and for the leadership, it can be an eye-opening experience," Gehm added. "It's an important reminder of how richly God has blessed us with caring, capable coworkers who want to expand their skills to serve more people."
