Two seniors on the beachAlpena Village, an active adult community for residents 55 and better, offers a variety of easy-care condominiums and affordable apartments in a beautifully wooded setting.

Benefits of living on the Alpena Village campus include exterior and common area maintenance, snow removal and lawn care.  These services allow more free time to interact with neighbors, entertain family and friends or pursue personal interests.

Adjacent to Alpena Community College, this close proximity provides life-long learning and cultural opportunities.

A walking path to the college allows for easy access to college courses, dining, and performances. This working relationship between a retirement community and local college is unique in Michigan.

In addition, the city of Alpena and surrounding areas boast a wide array of dining, cultural and recreational opportunities unique to the northeast corner of the lower peninsula.

The Pines

pinescondosshadeThe Pines are affordable apartments built in a partnership that includes Lutheran Homes of Michigan, Presbyterian Villages of Michigan and the State of Michigan.

These income-restricted, 55+ apartments are also eligible for Section 8 assistance. Monthly rents, depending on income and assets, range from $260-$630. One- or two-bedroom floor plans are available, with about 650-850 square feet of living space.

All apartments have a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, window treatments, ceiling fan, central air conditioning, carpeting and vinyl flooring. Laundry rooms and storage spaces are all also available on both floors of the two-story building. A centrally-located elevator serves the second floor.
